When Mockingbirds Sing

Well, this was a fun book! The main character is a nine year old girl named Leah who is very shy and has a stutter. Her family moves to a small town in Virginia and throws her a party on her birthday. She is sitting on a hill by herself when she meets the Rainbow Man. The Ranbow Man sings to Leah and convinces Leah to paint elaborate paintings that will have the entire town in an uproar! Leah's best friend is an older girl named Allie, who sticks by Leah's side until she feels she cannot any longer.

This is a feel good book that had me laughing and talking out loud to some of these characters. It is a great read even for readers who may not like spiritual books.

5 Minutes with Jesus

In her new book, 5 Minutes with Jesus, Sheila Walsh asks us to just take 5 minutes during our busy day to pray to Jesus. Sheila formats the book with a daily anecdotal story and follows that story with a collection of relevant bible verses in plain English.

A wonderful devotional to take away the excuses. Spending five minutes a day reading scripture is definitely doable. I read the verses in the book and cross reference them with the KJV bible. The stories are thought provoking ones that most can either identify with or be empathetic with.

Five minutes....it took me longer to write this post!
